Social Integration
By 2018, Chiang Mai International Airport is expected to facilitate up to 12 million passengers a year. In addition, a high speed railroad system is being considered linking Bangkok to Chiang Mai which will further propel Chiang Mai onto an international platform. Thai citizens can no longer rely on traditional methods and knowledge to accommodate this expected increase in tourism, but need to adjust their development toward careers and industry, which will not only serve them personally, but will strategically provide a better trained and educated business force prepared to make it work.
Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports is leading the way with a new international convention and exhibition center completed in 2012 which will promote Chiang Mai as a major city of business and tourism. That is why it is important now to learn and develop the business skills and English language training which will be needed for the future.
